"You Were the Cheater"
Funny how the guilty
always point the finger first.
You swore I was the one sneaking around,
the one who couldn't be trusted,
the one who would break your heart.
But every accusation
was just another confession
you were too afraid to say out loud.
You told me it was supposed to be us.
Just us.
Meanwhile, she was never gone.
You said you'd never go back to her.
Called her every name in the book,
said she wasn't worth your time.
Turns out you weren't going back.
You never left.
I was standing there,
thinking I had a place in your life,
while you were busy making room
for two people at once.
That's the wound you left behind.
Not because you chose her.
Because you looked me in the eyes,
made promises with the same mouth
that was feeding me lies.
Then she messages me,
saying she doesn't want problems,
that she hates drama.
I don't owe anyone an argument.
People who truly hate drama
don't keep creating reasons for it to exist.
The difference between us?
They're still writing chapters
in the same worn-out story.
I'm closing the book.
I'm becoming a senior.
I've got dreams bigger than gossip,
goals louder than rumors,
and a future that doesn't have room
for people who confuse betrayal with love.
So keep telling yourselves
whatever helps you sleep at night.
Keep pretending I was the villain.
The truth doesn't disappear
just because you lie louder.
One day you'll have to live with what you did.
I won't.
Because while you're both holding on
to yesterday,
I'm already becoming
everything you said I never would.
And that's the part you'll never be able to change.
